This oral history collection chronicles the remarkable community effort to save the historic Keizer Schoolhouse, originally located at the corner of Chemawa Road and River Road. Once the heart of education and civic life in Keizer, the school faced closure and possible demolition in 1986. Through the determined support of local citizens, alumni, and community organizations, a grassroots preservation movement took shape. These stories capture the challenges and triumphs of that effort, including multiple fundraising campaigns, relocation efforts, and the eventual move of the building to its current home in 1996. Today, the restored school stands as a symbol of Keizer’s heritage—a vibrant space where history, education, arts, and community pride come together.
